Ormond Beach’s largest employer, Energizer Holdings Inc., presented a $10,000 grant to the Early Learning Coalition of Volusia and Flagler counties Wednesday, Nov. 30.

The funds came from Energizer’s charitable trust fund, meant to benefit nonprofit organizations, similar to the Early Learning Coalition.

Every local dollar the coalition receives provides the organization with a 16-to-one match from the state — meaning, Energizer’s contribution is equal to a $160,000 total funding boost to Early Learning.

That amount of money will serve 40 children next fiscal year.

The Early Learning Coalition provides subsidized school readiness programs for children from birth to age 5, as well as Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten for 4-year-olds.
