Nearly 350 community members joined the Florida Hospital Memorial Foundation for a silent auction and fashion show March 7 at The Shores Resort and Spa in Daytona Beach Shores that raised $60,000 to support the pediatric services at Florida Hospital Memorial Medical Center in Daytona Beach.

The event featured 30 volunteer models from the community. Fashions were provided by My Adornments and Jos. A. Bank. The presenting sponsor was Robins and Morton and the models’ hair and make-up was performed by Dollface Hair Refinery, of Ormond Beach.

Holland Financial announces promotion

 

Holland Financial has announced that Amy Williamson has been promoted to the position of financial adviser. She began work there eight years ago as customer service representative and pursued an education in finance through the years, according to a press release. Local doctor serves at state legislature

 

Dr. Edwin Prevatte, director of Halifax Health Family Medicine Residency Program, served as the Doctor of the Day for the Florida Legislature on March 5. Physicians who are willing to spend a day in Tallahassee during the session provide healthcare for members of the legislature and legislative employees. Dr. Kara Williams, a Halifax Health family medicine resident, assisted Prevatte.

 

Giant colon visits hospital

 

In recognition of National Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month, the Colorectal Cancer Alliance’s BIG Colon Tour will make its Volusia County debut from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, March 22, at Halifax Health Medical Center of Daytona Beach, 303 N. Clyde Morris Blvd., in front of the France Tower,

The BIG Colon Tour features a giant, 20-foot-long, inflatable colon that provides an overview of the various stages of disease including normal colon tissue, Crohn’s Disease, polyp, malignant polyp, colon cancer and advanced colon cancer. Free, interactive tours will begin each hour of the event.
