The Florida Department of Transportation and Florida Highway Patrol are urging drivers to exercise care when traveling for the Thanksgiving holiday.
FDOT stated in a press release that drivers should ensure vehicles are ready for the trip and avoid impaired driving, such as driving while drowsy. View roadway conditions and livestreaming traffic cameras at FL511.com.
“An informed driver is a safer driver,” said Jeremy Dilmore, FDOT District Five’s Transportation Systems Management and Operations program engineer. “Florida’s 511 gives you the tools to know before you go. Our thousands of live streaming traffic cameras and real-time incident data will help you make smarter decisions about your holiday travels.”
Road Rangers can help motorists with changing tires or assisting with minor mechanical repairs, the press release states. Motorists on I-4, I-75, I-95 and central Florida’s toll roads can request assistance by calling *347.
“Our goal is to see everyone arrive safely to their Thanksgiving celebration and back home again,” said Loreen Bobo, P.E., FDOT District Five’s Safety Administrator. “Florida’s target is zero fatal and serious injury crashes on our state’s roadways. Every driver can do their part to hit that target by buckling up, obeying the speed limit, and driving with care.”
