To kick off the Guild of the Museum of Arts of Sciences’ eighth-annual Festival of Trees, a “Taste of the Holidays Champagne Gala” will be held Thursday, Nov. 15. Local restaurants will be on hand, serving appetizers, desserts and drinks, while Christmas music plays and holiday décor is up for sale.

Christmas trees will also be available for purchase, and designer trees will be up for silent auction, with winners announced at the final day of the festival, Dec. 2, when Santa and Mrs. Claus will be in attendance for photos.

Although the guild attempts to draw guests from all over Volusia County for its events, more than 30% of guild members live in Ormond Beach, according to Publicity Director Pat Masotti-Abernathy, of Plantation Bay.

The group’s biggest event of the year, though, is its Halifax Art Festival.

Held the first weekend of November, this year’s art fest drew “no less” than 25,000 visitors, according to Masotti-Abernathy.

The festival will be open to the public with admission into the museum, at 352 S. Nova Road. Hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sundays.

Ormond Beach companies represented at the gala will be Pepper’s Mexican Cantina, Lulu’s Oceanside Grill, S.R. Perott, Frappes North and Rose Villa.

Tickets are $45.

Call 236-9810 to RSVP before Nov. 12.
