Several websites offer helpful information.

With hurricane season underway, the city of Ormond Beach has announced that information regarding disaster preparedness can be found on the city’s website, ormondbeach.org. Under the “Residents” tab, click “Emergency Alerts,” and then click on “Emergency Preparedness.” There is a link to “Hurricane Preparedness” which provides additional information as well as links to other valuable resources.

To make arrangements for infants, elderly and people with special needs, register with the Volusia County Health Department at doh.state.fl.us/chd/volusia/SPNS.html.

For help making a family disaster plan, visit floridadisaster.org and volusia.org/emergency.

To receive emergency telephone or e-mail notifications from the county’s Emergency Management Division, visit volusia.org/services/public-protection/emergency-management/get-connected/.

Other resources available include FEMA, ready.gov; the American Red Cross, redcross.org; and National Oceanic and Atmospheric Association National Weather Service, weather.gov/safety.php.
