For the fifth straight year, the dead arose from Pilgrim’s Rest Cemetery last weekend, Friday and Saturday, Oct. 12 and 13, to tell tales of their lives as 1800's Confederate soldiers and pioneers.

"(It’s) about getting people to remember those Confederates … who were buried in this cemetery." said Raymond Parker, who stood by the tombstone of, and played, soldier James F. Hull in the reenactment.

A fundraiser for the cemetery, the tour was hosted by the Ormond Beach Historical Society.

"The history is so profound,” said Jerry Valcik, a tour participant. "Looking back at history is very important ... and we hope the younger people here have a continuing interest in history."

"It's a lot fun." Terry Waszak, another actor on the tour said. "We belong to the Confederate Sons, and most of these guys have relatives. We just tell the stories."
