It all started with a casual conversation at “Coffee with a Cop” last year at Starbucks. John Hamlin, of Hamlin & Associates, and Volusia County Chair Ed Kelley met with Ormond Beach police officers and command staff and said that they wanted to show support for their local law enforcement agency.

A few days later, Hamlin donated the funds to obtain 10Alpha-1, a robot costume, to participate in community events and the funds to wrap the OBPD Crime Prevention vehicle in stars and stripes and a new wrap for the D.A.R.E. vehicle. Brian Kelley, of Florida Georgia Line, donated the funds to obtain new police protective shields to keep the officers safe in potentially dangerous situations.

Hamlin and the Kelley family met with officers at the police station March 27, and Chief Jesse Godfrey and members of his staff showed their appreciation and gratitude.

“We are extremely grateful for these generous donations that will keep the men and women of this department safe and connected to our community,” said Godfrey in a press release.
