Hear them roar: Lions Club honors Ormond Beach students

Local student-artists and athletes were recognized by the Ormond Beach Lions Club.

The Ormond Beach Lions Club honored local, young artists and athletes this month.

Dylan Anderson, of Ormond Beach Middle School, won not only the local but the district level in the Lions International Peace Poster Contest. Madison Sloan took second place and Isabelle Dryden took third. Ormond Beach Middle had 16 participants.

Anderson was presented with a certificate and will be the Ormond Beach Lions' guest Mar. 12, at Mario’s.

The Ormond Beach Lions Club also named Kayla Merkel as Student/Athlete of the month. Merkel has played varsity soccer at Seabreeze High School for four years and holds a 4.2 grade point average. She will be attending Embry-Riddle University in the fall.
