Ormond Memorial Art Museum hosted a Christmas-themed pine cone-decorating event for kids last week.

With glue and gems stuck to her tiny fingers, 4.5-year-old Summer Samar added another shimmery ornament to her pine cone Christmas tree Friday night, at the Ormond Memorial Art Museum & Gardens.
"Glitter is her favorite color," mom, Jennifer Samar said with smile.
Summer was among many kids covered in glue Friday at the museum's monthly Free Family Art Night. Keeping in the holiday spirit, families created Christmas trees out of pine cones using pom poms, gems and ribbon.
The Perez kids talked excitedly about reindeer and Santa Claus as they trimmed their trees.
Julian Perez, 6, covered his tree in cutouts of candy canes and gingerbread men. His sister Adrianna, 7, carefully wrapped some Christmas-colored ribbon around her pine cone.
"I love putting out all kinds of materials to see what they do," said Sherrill Schoening, curator of education and outreach at the museum. "Every tree comes out different."
Free Family Art Night is hosted at the Ormond Memorial Art Museum & Gardens the first Friday of every month.
