The Trails residential community hired an outside management group to run the property, following push-back from residents.

Starting in January, the 990 homes in The Trails will be run by the property management company Aegis.

Rob Bridger, who was appointed board president of The Trails homeowners association in November, said that it was the number of residents that showed up at the association's annual meeting in October that pushed the board into this decision.

"There hasn't been a change in The Trails management in 25 years or so," Bridger said. "So it was time for a new start and to become more efficient and more effective."

At the meeting, residents expressed concern regarding board accountability, as well as dissatisfaction with property management.

This dissatisfaction led to the majority of the board resigning in early November, Bridger being among the few that remained. The notes from a November meeting stated that all of the current board members, with the exception of Rob Bridger and board secretary Wes Collier, planned to submit their resignations. Ken Nelson, the current executive director of the homeowners association, also submitted his resignation. His contract will be up by the end of the year.

"While not an easy decision to accept this responsibility," Collier stated during the meeting, "we felt that it was in the best interest of The Trails homeowners to move forward with reconstituting the board."

"There was the feeling that the board was not being proactive as it should be," Bridger said. "I think there was a lot of pressure from the residents."

And since, the reaction from residents has been positive, according to Bridger. He said that when the new board was first seated, the residents in attendance applauded.

Current member of the homeowners association and previous board member Neal Nugent has lived in The Trails since 1990. He attended the annual board meeting and was glad that the association moved quickly in its decision to sign Aegis.

"I hope they do a good job," Nugent said. "We'll have a better idea of what they are all about six months from now."
