New small business networking group, the Hometown Business Alliance, drew about 200 local entrepreneurs to its inaugural meeting, featuring Hawiain Tropic founder Ron Rice, last week, at Lucky’s, in Daytona Beach.

“We had just a tremendous, tremendous turnout,” said Sean Donovan, organization head and Ormond Beach resident. “It was just incredible.”

The event also served as a catalyst for 40 new Business Alliance member sign-ups, bringing the group up to about 70 total members. By the end of December, Donovan hopes to see that number over 1,000. And he envisions the HBA’s next meeting, Oct. 9, at the Ormond Beach Performing Arts Center, serving as another membership jolt.

Spotlighting memory trainer and Ormond Beach resident Jon Keith, who has been featured in the New York Times, TIME Magazine and several  national TV shows, the meeting is projected to attract 600 people, Donovan says.
