Issues over politics is focus of bridge walk

Local non-partisan group brings attention to women’s health care

The Ormond Beach Action Group walked the Granada Bridge on Saturday morning to try and bring awareness of health care needs, especially women’s health care, to their community. Their signs said it all “Health care for all” and “Women’s health matters” were held high as they reached the crest of the bridge.

An estimated 70 people, predominately women, participated in the event that organizer Risa Ross described as non-partisan and peaceful.

The response from those driving over the bridge was positive and supportive with many waving and honking their horns.

Ross said getting people involved in issues that concern them is what the group is all about, including donating to local groups like the “Dress for Success” closet at Daytona State College.

“You have to start local,” she said.
