4 a.m. — First block of Big Buck Trail
Battery touch. Police report a drunk woman pulled her father to the ground by his shirt after he tried to stop her from involving herself in their neighbors' argument. The altercation broke one of the lenses in his glasses.
He told police his daughter had been heavily drinking all day and that when she heard their neighbors arguing, she decided she needed to intervene. He said he advised her at the time that it wasn't a good idea. The woman refused to say anything about the incident to police, other than that she and her father were arguing over "a pork chop dinner."
5:32 p.m. — Intersection of North Nova Road and North U.S. 1
Possession of cannabis. A Jacksonville man en route to Daytona Beach to celebrate his 34th birthday was arrested after police found 20 grams of marijuana in his car. Police noted the man appeared nervous when he was pulled over, candidly telling officers he lacked a valid driver's license.
Before deploying a K9, officers asked if there was anything in the car the dog may turn up, and the man admitted to having "a little less than a quarter" in a bag. Police found several bags of marijuana, all of different types, leading officers to believe the man intended to sell the substances.
The man said he wasn't aware of the other bags of marijuana, aside from the one he told officers about. He denied having the intent to sell the drugs, insisting that the marijuana was for "partying."
1 a.m. — First block of East Granada Boulevard
Possession of methamphetamine. While patrolling the Ormond Memorial Art Museum's garden, police arrested a man and woman parked in the rear public parking lot after officers found meth and glass pipes in their car. The woman told officers she had "snorted" meth the day before and that she recreationally takes Adderall.
The couple told police they were parked in the lot because they had checked out of their motel room and had nowhere to stay for the night. The vehicle was parked next to a sign that read "No overnight parking."
