K-9 named Kane celebrates birthday with a drug bust

Kane turned 5 years old this week.

Some dogs ask for presents, and some dogs ask for justice.

Kane, the Ormond Beach Police Department's resident K-9, celebrated his 5th birthday Feb. 28 by making a drug bust.

  • The Volusia County Sheriff’s Office voted in the International Union of Police Associations as new bargaining agent after over 12 years with the Teamsters.
  • Thomas Dougall, gave the Volusia County Sheriff's Office a DJI Phantom 2 Vision Quadcopter in honor of his niece, 21-year-old Carly Bowie, who died after her truck swerved off a bridge and into the Tomoka River in December. He named it "Super Girl," and hopes it will help find someone faster in the future.

  • Captain Jim Crimins retired from the Ormond Beach Police Department Feb. 28.
