Karate kids win state titles

Six students at Karate for Kids, 156 N. Nova Road, are state champions for 2015-2016 in the American Taekwondo Association. Front row: Trevor Madero, ages 1-8, two-time winner in sparring and combat; Rebecca Monk, ages 9-10, form; back row: Cole Farnsworth, ages 11-12, 1st degree black belt, combat; Sam Hinckley, 1st degree black belt, ages 13-14, sparring; Jason Farnsworth, school owner and 2015 world champion for ages 40-49; Tre Washington, ages 11-12, 1st degree black belt, sparring; and Magen Geary, ages 13-14, 1st degree black belt, combat. Worldwide, there are 1,500 licensed ATA clubs, and Karate for Kids is the only one in Ormond Beach.
