U.S. 1 will be getting a makeover -- if the Ormond Beach Chamber of Commerce has anything to say about it, that is.

There may soon be some new roadside views to enjoy during commutes from U.S. 1 to West Granada Boulevard.

Though this landscaping makeover is still in its preliminary stages, there is talk in the Ormond Beach Chamber of Commerce of updating U.S. 1, from Interstate 95 to West Granada Boulevard. The group has held one meeting so far on the issue.

The skills of the previous group that worked on the last Granada Boulevard project might be called on again for this project, according to Rick Fraser, executive director at Ormond Beach Chamber of Commerce.

"I think it was called Operation Pride. We were talking if we want to reinvigorate that name and that group," said Fraser.

Members of the business community and city staff attended the first meeting, with the majority of responses being positive. The meeting ended with City Manager Joyce Shanahan scheduling another meeting with committee member Peggy Farmer.

"We're still trying to get some meat on the bones," said Fraser. "Just right now, there is not a lot of meat."
