A 61-year-old local man drowned in Ormond Beach Friday afternoon, shortly after leaving the scene of a car accident at the Georgia Inn Beach Club.

Randall Hancock was seen by a witness enter the water from the Milsap beach approach, seeming “gazed.” It is possible Hancock, who is an Ormond resident, could’ve been intoxicated when he entered the beach.

Lifeguard Alyson Beauregard spotted Hancock facing down in the water, and believed he was wearing goggles. After observing him, she decided he needed help and went to his assistance. Once she reached Hancock, Beauregard noticed he was unresponsive and moved him onto his back.

Beauregard then saw that Hancock was foaming at the mouth and she and another man pulled him to shore. Hancock was later transported to Halifax Health Medical Center where he was later pronounced dead.
