Local teams take two championships at soccer tourney

Ormond Beach teams notched five top finishes out of 77 squads competing at the Ormond Beach Sports Complex Jan. 19 and 20.

It was all about soccer last weekend, as the Ormond Beach Soccer Club hosted its annual tournament Jan. 19 and 20, at the Ormond Beach Sports Complex.

The tournament included 77 teams and more than 1,000 players throughout Ormond Beach, as well as Volusia and Flagler counties.

Teams competed in five different age groups (10U, 11U, 12U, 13U and 14U), and five teams from Ormond Beach finished either as division champions or runners-up.

The boys 10U and boys 12U (gold division) teams finished at the top of their divisions. The boys 12U (silver division), girls 12U (gold division) and girls 14U finished as division runners-up.
