The Ormond Beach Performing Arts Center hosted The Luminaries, the 23rd-annual Very Special Arts of Volusia talent night, Friday, May 3.

"This is a program that is near and dear to my heart because it is the special-needs students from the Volusia County school program that participate in the program,” said Marc Schwartz, Performing Arts Center supervisor. “You’ll be moved if not to tears as I often am. It’s just something that you should experience for yourself."

The program featured performances by Tomoka’s Rising Stars, of Tomoka Elementary, and Ormond Beach residents Scarlett Moran and Skylar Moreira.

Moran sang “When You Leave,” a Romanian pop folk song, and Moreira danced to “Defying Gravity,” from “Wicked.”

Tomoka’s Rising Stars performed a rendition of “What Makes You Beautiful.”
