THURSDAY, OCT. 27

The Art of Healing: Fall Floral Mobile

3 p.m. at Florida Hospital’s Cancer Care Center, 224 Memorial Medical Parkway, Daytona Beach. Free, visual art program open to anyone in need of healing: patients, caregivers, and survivors can all benefit from self-expression. Reservations are required in advance. No experience needed and all supplies provided. Call 231-2229.

FRIDAY, OCT. 28

“Steadfast”

6:30 p.m. at the Ormond Beach Performing Arts Center, 399 N. U.S. Highway 1. In collaboration with SMA Behavioral Healthcare Prevention Center and One Voice for Volusia Coalition, “Steadfast” a faith-based feature film directed to teens and parents and filmed exclusively in Volusia County. A touching drama with an inspirational soundtrack, the movie portrays issues such as bullying, purity, cutting, substance abuse, and more, and highlights how we can stand strong through life’s trials and temptations.  Outdoor activities will begin at 5:30 p.m. Local resources and seating will begin at 5:45 p.m. There will also be a costume contest with prizes. SATURDAY, OCT. 29

Watercolor Workshop with Stacey Fletcher Reynolds

9 a.m. to noon at the Ormond Memorial Art Museum. The purpose of this course is to introduce the student to a range of ideas and techniques through the unique properties of watercolor. Students are responsible for some supplies. Open to participants 16 and older. Locally roasted coffee, generously provided by Steel Oak Coffee. Cost is $76.

The Bag Lady Luncheon

10:30 a.m. at the Halifax Plantation Golf Clubhouse. A fundraiser for the Daytona Beach Symphony Guild. Luncheon, sale and musical entertainment. Cost is $40 per person. Selling and auctioning new and gently used purses. Call 253-2901 by Oct. 24 to purchase tickets.

Wind and Weather

11 a.m. at the Environmental Discovery Center. The wind, how it is created, how the coastal environment differs from inland climates, how the wind is measured and how the wind relates to the other weather parameters. Speaker is Matt Corey, who is the chief meteorologist and project manager for WeatherFlow, Inc. The class is limited to 30 people. Call and reserve your spot at 615-7081.

“Vincent”

7 p.m. at the Ormond Beach Performing Arts Center, 399 N. U.S. Highway 1. A play written by Leonard Nimoy about Vincent Van Gogh as told by Van Gogh’s brother. Tickets cost $25. Call 676-3375.

Stetson University Opera Theatre — A Night of a Thousand Stars

3:30 p.m. at Ormond Presbyterian Church. The best of opera and musical theater come together. The very best of Puccini, Verdi, Rossini, Jason Robert Brown, Alan Menken, and Lin-Manuel Miranda are featured in this extravaganza of music and singing! Directed by Mr. Russell Franks. Free-will offering.

I Can Cope

2 p.m. at the Florida Hospital Memorial Medical Center Cancer Institute, large conference room, at 224 Memorial Medical Parkway, Daytona Beach. An educational class for people facing cancer provided by the American Cancer Society. Topics will include managing the effects of cancer treatment, nutrition, community resources, communication, emotional support, and caregiving. Classes held the first Wednesday of the month. Free.
