Sept. 1

Figurine felon

8:35 a.m. — 200 block of First Street, Ormond Beach

Larceny. Police responded to a theft call, but once they arrived at the home at which the crime reportedly took place, no one answered the door. Officers called the reporting person, and were able to make contact with a neighbor.

The officers drove to the neighbor's house, and he informed them that he had seen a man riding his bike south on First Street with a pig statue in his hand. The neighbor asked him if the statue belonged to him, but the man simply rode off without responding.

Police eventually spoke with the pig statue's owner and advised him it had been stolen. The owner declined to press charges.

Sept. 13

Laundry bandit

11:30 p.m. — 700 block of South Nova Road, Ormond Beach

Larceny. A man called police after his clothes were stolen from a local laundromat.

According to a police incident report, the man said he had moved his clothes from the washer to the dryer, setting the latter for 30 minutes before he went outside to his tractor trailer in the parking lot to wait while his clothes dried. When he went back inside, his clothes were gone. He estimated the loss at $200, and he wished to pursue charges.

While on the scene, the reporting officer reviewed security footage and saw a white bald man opening several dryers, removing the clothing inside and putting them in different black garbage bags and tote bags. Laundromat patrons were asked if they knew the man — none did.

Sept. 14

Taken off the streets

5:45 a.m. — 200 block of South Atlantic Avenue, Ormond Beach

Indecent exposure in public. A woman and her teen son arrived at her workplace to find a man with his pants pulled down as he openly masturbated in the parking lot. The woman yelled at the 27-year-old homeless man and told him to stop his actions and get off her property. However, the man ignored her and walked toward her car while continuing to masturbate.

After she gathered a couple people to help her scare off the man, he ran off. She eventually spotted him again in the area and told him she was calling police, at which point the man grabbed a backpack and left the property quickly, according to the police report. Police soon arrived at the scene but the man was not found in the area.

Around 8:42 a.m., police received a call that a woman was inappropriately grabbed at an Ormond Beach park, and the suspect matched the man's description. The reporting officer spotted the man on the Granada bridge and detained him. He refused to speak with police. He was trespassed from all city parks and transported to jail.
