1:02 a.m. — first block of North Yonge Street
Possession of narcotic paraphernalia. Police arrested a 24-year-old man for having marijuana and crack pipes on his person, the latter of which he claimed to have found after someone dropped it. The defendant told the officer he wanted to try it.
Officers initially approached the defendant and a second man after receiving a complaint originating from behind a local gas station. They noted the two crack pipes on the ground in front of the men, as well as several recently-consumed beer cans surrounding them. The defendant was trespassed and taken to jail.
11:11 a.m. — 400 block of Tomoka Avenue
Burglary. A 28-year-old resident suspects his neighbor burglarized his apartment after confronting him over heard statements that his neighbor stole from his apartment and was bragging about it, police reported. The victim's front door had been kicked in and rooms had been visibly searched through.
The bar stools in the kitchen were knocked over as well, police reported, and there was a hole in the dry wall below the counter. In the kitchen, the cabinet above the sink also had a hole. The victim was missing two carpentry saws, one porter cable and one SKIL saw.
Police report the upstairs neighbor heard the suspect threaten to fight the victim an rob him when he wasn't home. There was no video surveillance in the area and no witnesses to the burglary.
7:16 a.m. — 1600 block of North U.S. 1
Battery touch. An 18-year-old man found himself under arrest after he pushed a man in their home while arguing about having responsibilities such as taking care of their dog and getting to work on time. Police report the argument began after the victim woke the defendant up to take him to work.
The defendant told police he realized he was late for work but attempted to take the family dog outside before he left. According to police, the victim said the dog had already been let out and that's when the defendant pushed him.
The defendant was charged with violation of probation and taken to jail.
