The man believed to be behind the Florida Community Bank robbery almost two weeks ago was arrested on Monday, Nov. 26, after he committed a similar robbery at the SunTrust Bank at 160 N. Nova Road.

According to a press release by the Ormond Beach Police Department, the man, identified as 47-year-old Mark Thomas Wardell, approached a teller at the bank at around 1:30 p.m. He showed a note demanding money, and implied he had a weapon, police report. After he received money from the bank, Wardell left the scene.

This was exactly what the suspect of the Florida Community Bank robbery did on Nov. 13,  and police believe Wardell is the person involved in that robbery as well.

OBPD conducted a search for Wardell with Volusia County Sheriff's deputies, Daytona Beach Police K-9 officers and Flagler County Sheriff's deputies. Wardell was later arrested by a Flagler County deputy. Police report Wardell is also a suspect in other bank robberies outside of the city.
