Don't even think about it, South American scammers. The McNeills are on the case.

Police Chief Andy Osterkamp presented Certificates of Commendation at last week’s Ormond Beach Police Department Volunteers meeting to husband-and-wife team George and Elaine McNeill.

While on citizens’ patrol last month, the McNeills were contacted regarding a possible Western Union scam at the Walmart on West Granada Boulevard. An elderly woman was called by a person claiming to be her grandchild, and was asked to send $2,800 to South America, to get him out of jail.

The McNeill’s intervened. They went to the store, talked to the Western Union clerk and had the victim’s transaction canceled and her money returned.
