WESH TV polled viewers in a survey.

Tia Cori’s Tacos, with locations in Ormond Beach and Daytona Beach, has been voted the top Mexican restaurant in Central Florida by WESH TV viewers. Voters let their voice be heard in a survey on the station’s Facebook page.

The restaurants are owned by Corina Parra Ortiz (Tia Cori) and her brother, Ben Parra.

“Our dream was to provide our customers with an authentic taste of Mexico by using our family’s recipes,” Ortiz said.

Leslie Garcia, manager of the Ormond location, 1930 W. Granada Blvd., said the parents of the owners had restaurants in Mexico and passed on the recipes. Ortiz and Parra grew up in Mexico.

Garcia said a popular feature at both restaurants is a mariachi band, which roams among the tables. They play Friday nights, alternating between the Daytona and Ormond locations.

“They’re a very lively band,” she said. “They dance around.”

Garcia said all of the food is fresh and made from scratch.

Ortiz and Parra opened the Tia Cori’s Tacos on Beach Street in Daytona Beach with their spouses, Ovi Ortiz and Kelley Parra, in May, 2010. In February 2014, they opened their second Tia Cori’s Tacos location in Ormond Beach.
