The Volusia County Sheriff's Department is looking for a 79-year-old Ormond Beach woman who was last seen leaving work at 10 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 24.

Rose Bruce left her job at Wal-Mart when her shift ended and was supposed to return an hour later to pick up her daughter-in-law, at the end of her shift.

When Bruce didn't show up, her daughter-in-law walked home to their apartment and discovered the fire alarm going off and smoke coming from the oven, where dinner was burning.

VCSO deputies said they conducted an extensive search of the neighborhood and checked local hospitals. They added Bruce has not gone missing before and has never been diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease or any other mental disability.

Bruce is described as a white woman, 5 feet 1 inches tall, weighing about 110 pounds, with blue eyes and gray hair.

According to the report, Bruce's blue 1997 Honda Accord hasn't been located.

The Sheriff’s Office asks that anyone with information about Bruce's whereabouts call 736-5999.
