New preschool puts name on map through first fall festival

Salty Kids Preschool held its first fall festival last week, raising awareness of its facility, as well as more than $300 for supplies.

Opened for its first semester in Ormond Beach August 20, Salty Kids Preschool, at 221 Vining Ct., held its first ever fall festival Oct. 31, with a petting zoo, bounce house, face painting, music, a cupcake walk and a pumpkin patch.

“I was Cruella, and we decided to make costumes for the kids and turn them into Dalmations,” Dawnmarie Bridgeman, the schools director, said.

A total of about 400 people showed up to the event, raising more than $300 through a silent auction, which benefited the purchase of education supplies.

“We did not get any new enrollment, but I definitely think the word got out about us,” Bridgeman added.

Salty Kids has a 37-student capacity and, every Wednesday, all of the kids go "traveling" around the world, with a new speaker each week who presents on the country they’re from, feeds the kids a snack from that region and teaches them a few new words.

The Christian-based school also has science Fridays, a gymnastics program and a music program, which is currently organizing its Christmas concert. All teachers are also all certified in CPR and first-aid.

Spaces are currently available at Salty Kids for 2-year-olds and Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten.
