+ Budget season: Meet at town hall

The city of Ormond Beach will host a town hall meeting 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 21, at City Hall, 22 S. Beach St.

The meeting is meant to raise awareness of the city’s budget and financial situation, as well as offer residents a chance to offer suggestions and discuss how programs and services can be sustained.

All residents are invited to attend and participate.

Call 676-3226, or visit www.OrmondBeach.org.

+ Rep. Dave Hood: Town hall meeting

Florida Rep. Dave Hood, of Ormond Beach’s District 25, will also host a town hall meeting 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 22, at City Hall, 22 S. Beach St.

+ Water utility to change disinfectant

Ormond Beach’s utilities division will temporarily modify the city’s potable drinking water system, June 10 to July 1.

The utilities division will use free chlorine, which is a stronger disinfectant, rather than chloramines, a longer-lasting disinfectant comprised of combined chlorine-ammonia.

The temporary change, the city said, is “common practice for enhancing the effectiveness and reliability of disinfection in water-distribution systems and is recommended by the Department of Environmental Protection.”

Residents may notice a “slight” change in the water’s taste and odor, the city said, but the water will remain the same quality.

Call 676-3230.

+ Report: public works projects

Florida Power and Light will conduct routine tree trimming along rights-of-way on the city’s mainland beginning late May. The work will be done between 7:30 a.m. and 5 p.m., Mondays through Fridays. Call 866-274-9098.

Urban Forestry removed a downed tree on Flormond Avenue and a large oak tree on South Ridgewood Avenue.

The city’s concrete crew made road and sidewalk repairs on Pine Cone Trail.

The city’s sign shop removed old, reflective road materials at Ormond Memorial Gardens, and prepared for installation of a replacement.
