New platform for re-employment

The Center for Business Excellence has announced that the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity will launch a new way to claim weekly Re-employment Assistance benefits, update and monitor accounts, and respond to requests for information. Known as CONNECT, this new system will provide Re-employment Assistance customers with better service and convenience, according to the department.

Beginning Oct. 15, DEO’s Contact Center will be open extended hours, from 7:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday, and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, to help claimants with CONNECT. The Contact Center phone number is 800-204-2418 and website is floridajobs.org/CONNECT.

The current system will not be available from noon Oct. 9 until 7:59 a.m. Oct. 15. Claimants who do not claim their weeks by noon Oct. 9, may not claim those weeks until 8 a.m. Oct. 15. Claimants who do not follow these instructions will likely experience delays with their payments.

The Casements to celebrate centennial

On Oct. 19, the Casements will celebrate its 100th Anniversary 2-4 p.m. The Casements Centennial Gazebo, a gift from The Casements Guild, will be dedicated at the celebration, and a 100-year historical timeline, including photographs and documents, will be unveiled.

The home will be open to the public for tours. There will be light refreshments and entertainment.
