Deputy escorting motorcyclists hit by car

Joshua Baughman, 20, of Ormond Beach, was cited March 11, for failure to yield to an emergency vehicle after he collided with a Volusia County Sheriff's Office motorcycle.

The deputy was escorting a group of motorcyclists traveling northbound on State Road A1A, according to the Florida Highway Patrol report, when Baughman “entered the group of motorcyclists.”

Baughman eventually left the center of the group and attempted a left turn onto River Drive, where he failed to yield to the deputy, who, according to reports, had his emergency lights activated. The car and motorcycle collided.
