Construction on Hand Avenue coming along

All of the utility work for Hand Avenue was completed July 25, with the last section of storm drainage piping set to be installed in the 500 block. Preparation for paving from the FPL substation west to Center Street has begun, with an expectation to start paving through the Center Street intersection by mid-August.

Excavation and grading of the road sub-base from Center Street west to the canal crossing is also underway. Curb installation in this area is to begin the week of August 5, followed by driveway aprons and sidewalks. Road base in the 500 block should be completed by August 13. Curb, sidewalks, guardrails and the retaining wall over the canal crossing and connecting to the other side are anticipated to be complete by the end of August.

Residents with questions or comments are encouraged to contact the city or their resident project representative, Ed Gard, at 407-539-4515.
