More than 400 votes were cast for the 35 different paintings submitted by over 20 Ormond Beach artists and hung in 20 different venues along Granada Boulevard for the first-ever Ocean Air Art Prize — and Kristin Heron came out on top.

Her painting, "Wellspring," won the People's Choice Award, while J. Walker Fischer won first place with his photograph titled "Forest Spirit." Rosemary Burns won third place with "Fishing in St. Augustine," and Mary Wentzel won second place with "Hemmingway House."

The contest was the first project launched by the Ormond Beach Arts District, and the reception was held Jan. 26 at Arts on Granada.
