Also: Realty acquires brokerage and hospital announces partnership

Halifax Health has launched ER Express, an online check-in system that provides reservations for patients with nonemergency conditions.

Patients with conditions that are not life threatening can visit halifaxhealth.org/ERExpress to schedule their visit to either the Daytona Beach or Port Orange emergency departments, or a Halifax Health - Care Now location in Ormond Beach or Deltona. Reservations are also available for pediatric services.

Because Emergency Department staff must treat patients based on the severity of illness or injury, ER Express times are not guaranteed, however, scheduled patients will be seen as close to their designated time as possible, according to a press release.

Hospital partners with oncology group

Florida Cancer Specialists and Research Institute and the Florida Hospitals in Volusia and Flagler counties have entered a new agreement in an effort to strengthen and standardize the medical oncology care across the region, according to a statement from Florida Hospital.

FCS is the largest independent medical oncology/hematology practice in the United States. Locally, FCS is comprised of nine medical oncologists. They join four Florida Hospital HealthCare Partners physicians, creating a group of 13 that will provide medical oncology services at Florida Hospital.

"Given the changing environment of healthcare today, it is more important than ever for doctors and hospitals to work together,” said Brad Prechtl, CEO of FCS.

The Florida Hospitals in Volusia and Flagler counties will continue to offer radiation oncology treatment and oncology surgery with support services.
