Though the cars of tomorrow may be full of flash, it's the timeless cars of yesterday that these drivers still admire.

The annual Antique Car Gaslight Parade was hosted by the Volusia Region of the Antique Automobile Club of America, with significant support from the City of Ormond Beach Police, Leisure Services, and Public Works Departments.  The event included both a parade, which was held Friday evening, and a show, which was held Saturday morning. People from all over the county and even country attended.

One attendee, Bud Elliot, was proud of his contribution to this year's show: a rare model of the 1964 Thunderbird in Melon Coral. Though he had to do a lot of electrical work to the car after he bought it, the body was in good condition.

"(According to) the Thunderbird registry ... they are down to like 49 models of this car," said Elliot. "But that's not to say there isn't one sitting in a salvage yard or rusting in the woods.

He estimates his car is now worth $50,000.

Another fan favorite was Sam Musgrove's 1965 Falcon. Musgrove said he bought the car eight years ago from the mayor of Ovideo.

"I bought it because of the paint job and no rust in it, and it was a pretty car to start with," he said.

The oldest car at show was Daniel and Kristin McNab's 1901 Victor Steam Carrier, a car from a trio that belonged to Kristin's grandfather Ray Lindsey, a pillar in the antique car community until his death in January.

"Ray and his wife, Barbra, they spent their winters at a condo in Flagler," Musgrove added. "He would always bring a car down, for probably the past 30 years. People who knew or were familiar with antique vehicles in the area, they knew who he was."

The show ran at Fortunato Park until 3 p.m. Saturday.

"We just love the vintage cars," said Brian Cronim, another attendee. "It's a great event, gets everyone out and the weather is perfect.
