Hello? Who's this?

3:46 p.m. — 1400 block of Granada Boulevard

Harrassing call. A local dollar store manager called police after she received various mysterious phone calls from an unknown man threatening to rob the store. She informed police that in some calls she's answered, no one talks on the other line.

According to the store manager, the man called telling her he had received a malfunction notification from the store's IT department regarding a problem with a couple cash registers. When she declined to give him any information, he proceeded to threaten to rob the store.

Police were not able to track down the man behind the calls, but the store manager wishes to pursue charges.

Dollar thief

7:35 p.m. — 1500 block of North U.S. 1

Petit theft. A 40-year-old Ormond Beach woman was issued a notice to appear in court after she attempted to steal a $5 hair conditioner from a local dollar store. The woman had hidden the conditioner in her purse. When placed in handcuffs by police, she told officers that she had been stealing, police reported.

The woman told police that she was falling on hard times and didn't have the money to pay for it. Due to the stealing attempt, the woman was also trespassed from the store.

And another one

9:45 p.m. — 1500 block of North U.S. 1

Petit theft. Just two hours after a woman attempted to steal the bottle of conditioner, the same dollar store was plagued by another thrift-seeking thief. A 20-year-old man from Bunnell was seen on surveillance video stealing a $1 black beanie, and police tracked him down to a local fast food restaurant, where he was arrested.

The beanie was not found on his person, but police later discovered the item next to a garbage can by the restaurant's drink station. The man admitted to putting the beanie in his back pocket and walking out of the store. He was released from police custody and issued a notice to appear in court.
