It's never too early to start your hurricane preparations.

The city of Ormond Beach is offering self-serve sand and up to 10 complimentary fillable bags for its residents at the Nova Community Center, located at 440 N. Nova Road. Residents will need to bring their own shovel and be able to fill and load the bags into their vehicles.

Are you a resident with special needs? You can request the delivery of sandbags to your home if you are unable to fill them or unload them from your vehicle, per the city's announcement. Request this service by calling the city's Public Works Department at 386-676-3220 or by filling out an online form at https://www.ormondbeach.org/sandbags. Residents may also print the form and turn it in at the Public Works Department in person.

The self-serve sand hours are as follows:

  • 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday
  • 1-5:30 p.m. Sundays

Residents can receive their fillable bags from the Nova Recreation Center office during these hours.
