50 kids searched the grounds of Tomoka United Methodist Church for their annual Easter Egg Hunt.
What do you get when you combine 50 kids and almost 1,500 eggs? A whole lot of candy and a whole lot of chaos.
The annual Easter Egg Hunt at Tomoka United Methodist Church was filled with excitedly screaming kids finding the hidden eggs throughout the church’s prayer garden. The scene after was much more mild with young egg hunting veterans sitting on sidewalk, the contents of their baskets sprawled out as they counted their findings.
Cayden Avena, 5, and Taylor Torres, 5, were known as the die-hards of the group. Even though their baskets were basically filled to the rim, they went back on the hunt one last time, just in case.
Even though the egg hunt was a big part of the kids’ day, Pastor Kandace Brooks was happy to provide them an important lesson in the story of Easter.
“We brought them inside and told them the story of Easter,” Brooks said. “For a lot of these kids it’s maybe their first time. So it’s more than just an Easter Egg Hunt for them. They get to hear a little bit about why we are celebrating and Jesus’ resurrection. It’s a good way to get the community here.”
