Ormond Beach Police lieutenant graduates from the FBI National Academy

The Ormond Beach Police Department is proud to announce that Lt. Michelle Willis graduated from the 282nd Session of the FBI National Academy. Willis was one of 254 law enforcement officers who graduated on June 9.

On July 19, Ormond Beach Mayor Bill Partington and the City Commission recognized Lieutenant Willis for her accomplishment with a proclamation.

Willis is a 20-year veteran of the Ormond Beach Police Department, serving in multiple positions to include community service officer, patrol officer,

community outreach officer, DARE instructor, accreditation manager, criminal investigations unit corporal, evidence unit liaison, patrol sergeant, records supervisor, administrative sergeant and field training officer. She was promoted to lieutenant on July 3, 2021, and is currently serving as a watch commander.

Prior to her law enforcement career, Willis served in the U.S. Army as a radio repair specialist. Willis holds a bachelor's degree from Florida State University. Internationally known for its academic excellence, the FBI National Academy consists of 10 weeks of advanced communication, leadership and fitness training.

All participants have proven records as professionals within their local agency. FBI Director Christopher Asher Wray was in attendance and delivered remarks at the graduation ceremony. The FBI National Academy began in 1935 and a total of 53,435 graduates have completed the training since its inception. The National Academy is held at the FBI Training Academy in Quantico, Virginia.
