Ormond firefighters visiting schools for EMS week

The firefighters will read "Stewie the Duck Learns to Swim" to teach water safety to local kids.

In honor of the 42nd-annual National EMS Week, Ormond Beach firefighters are visiting elementary schools reading “Stewie the Duck Learns to Swim” to kindergarteners and answering their questions.

From May 15 to 21, the Florida Emergency Medical Services for Children Advisory Committee will join forces with Florida EMS personnel to present a water safety lesson for children ages 2 to 6.

President Gerald Ford authorized EMS Week to celebrate EMS practitioners and the important work they do in our nation's communities in 1974.
