Two new businesses have opened recently in the Ormond Mall on State Road A1A in Ormond-by-the-Sea: Floor Factory Outlet, which has every type of floor covering plus cabinets; and Bedtops Mattress, which offers all the name brands and styles.

“It’s a happening place,” said Judy Lemay, co-owner of Bedtops Matttress, located near the south end of the mall. “It’s nice to see all the activity.”

Also, a new 7-Eleven has opened in front of the mall on S.R. A1A.

Judy and her husband Gary operate a little bit differently: they have limited hours, eliminating the need for staff and keeping overhead low which allows lower prices. They are open 2-6 p.m. Friday, 12-4 p.m. Saturday, 1-4 p.m. Sunday and 2-6 p.m. Monday.

The small store is an annex for their main store, Bedtops Mattress Clearance Center in Palm Coast, located at 19 Hargrove Grade. If it goes well at the new shop, they can take down a wall to expand or move to a larger place in the mall.

They had been coming to the area for years to visit her mother, and Judy Lemay said they would visit the Ormond Mall. One day, the Lemays were having a pizza at a restaurant in the mall and thought how nice it would be to have a shop there, so they decided to take the plunge.

“It’s an awesome little mall,” Judy Lemay said. “We love the community.”

They said customers who live on State Road A1A encouraged them to open a store on the beachside.  It’s a bit of a risk, they said, because they will need to draw customers from the mainland, but they believe their prices will be attractive.

The newest feature in mattresses is cooling tops, which are designed to draw heat from the body and regulate temperature.

Find them at www.facebook.com/bedtops or call 627-4188.

Flooring store opens beachside

Floor Factory Outlet has opened at the north end of Ormond Mall, taking up the space of three previous stores.

“We surprised everybody,” said Christina Richardson, the cabinet designer. “People say they didn’t know we were here.”

They offer laminate, carpet, tile, hardwood, etc., as well as cabinets and countertops. Richardson said they took down four or five walls to create the huge space for the store.

The store owner has other locations, but none in the area. Find them on Facebook at “floor factory outlet ormond by the sea.”
