Ormond man killed after being struck by car on Granada

Police report that 62-year-old James Keyte died at the scene.

A 62-year-old Ormond Beach man died in the early morning hours of Wednesday, Sept. 2, after he was struck by a car going west bound as he crossed West Granada Boulevard at North Yonge Street.

Ormond Beach Police report that James Keyte died at the scene from injuries sustained in the crash, which occurred around 3:05 a.m near the Sunoco gas station. The driver of the sedan that struck Keyte was a pregnant woman, who police confirm was not impaired.

Initial reports indicate Keyte was not in a designated crosswalk when crossing the road, according to a press release. The crash report states that the driver noticed the green traffic light while she headed west bound.
