The Ormond Memorial Art Museum recently released its fall schedule.
There’s something for everyone at the Ormond Memorial Art Museum this fall.
From watercolor and collages to nature journaling and jewelry making, the museum is offering a variety of classes starting in October.
— “The Nature of Watercolor” will start 6 p.m. Oct. 8 to introduce the medium to new painters. Karlene McConnell will teach students to gain an understanding of materials, color theory and contour drawing. Class fee is $100 for members and $111 for nonmembers and includes all supplies.
—“Collage: Transcending the Layers” will start 1:30 p.m. Oct. 15 to teach students how to develop a personal vision and style through the art of collage. Joyce McAdams will use specific projects and demonstrations as part of a creative workshop to learn the basic collaging skills such as gluing, cutting, tearing, multiple layering and working with acrylics and digital imaging. The cost is $99 for museum members and $110 for nonmembers.
—"'Spirit of Autumn: Tree of Life Wire-Wrapped Gemstone Necklace'' will start 6 p.m. Oct. 21. Sarah Heron will guide students through simple techniques to create a beautiful necklace. Beginners can learn the basics of wire manipulation using jewelry tools as well as the basics of color and composition with gemstones. All supplies are provided. Cost is $40 for museum members and $44.50 for nonmembers.
— "Creative Drawing From a Prompt” will start 9 a.m. Oct. 18. Karlene McConnell will teach students to create drawings using prompts such as magazine photos, poems and paint. Cost is $75 for members and $83 for nonmembers.
—"Nature Journaling in the Garden: Field Notes and Palm Fronds'' will start 10 a.m. Oct. 25. Brenda Wright will teach students to experience the joy and stillness of exploring the living, natural world by learning to "really see.'' All supplies provided. Cost is $25 for members and $28 for nonmembers.
—“Intro to Alcohol Ink Painting: Vibrant Abstract Landscapes'' will start 6 p.m. Oct. 28. Kristin Heron will teach both the new and experienced artists how to tap into new areas of creativity with this workshop to create a vibrant, abstract landscape painting. All supplies provided. Cost is $55 for members and $61 for nonmembers.
— "Intro to Acrylic Painting'' will start 6 p.m. Oct. 30. Lisa Ahmed will teach about color theory, techniques and textures, line value and perspective to create a final 16 by 20 inch painting. Cost is $95 for members and $106 for nonmembers.
—“Color Pencil and You #101'' will start 10 a.m. Nov. 3. Bill Shoemaker will teach this series of classes that are designed for the beginner and will teach color techniques, as well as an overview of composition. Students will learn how to transfer a contour drawing from a photo onto drawing paper. All supplies provided. Cost is $95 for members and $106 for nonmembers.
—“Plein Air Painting in the Gardens: Oil, Acrylic or Watercolor'' will start 9 a.m. Nov. 8. Trish Vevera will teach students how to choose a view and compose an outdoor painting, simplify a drawing of the view and use the outdoor light to achieve color choices. Students can bring their own paints or use acrylics provided by the museum. Chairs and tables provided or bring an easel if you prefer to stand. Cost is $38 for members and $42 for nonmembers.
—"Monotypes: An Intro to the Art of Printmaking'' will start 10 a.m. Nov. 15. Kristin Heron will teach students how to use painting, drawing collage and creative mark-making to produce spontaneous results using the transformative process of printmaking. All supplies provided. Cost is $55 for members and $61 for nonmembers.
—“Cards & Cocktails'' will start 6 p.m. Nov. 18. Leah Wiedemer will teach this workshop with a holiday twist. Students will learn to paint holiday cards with pre-planned designs or paint your own creation. Leave with three or four cards. All supplies and wine provided. Cost is $38 for members and $42 for nonmembers.
