Alcoholic beverage prohibition. A 56-year-old man was arrested at a local park after he was unable to find someone sober to pick him up.

A police officer had been conducting a patrol of the park when he discovered the man. There was an open bottle of vodka nearby and the officer asked the man if it belonged to him. The man said it did. Because of his state, the reporting officer noted that he "did not feel comfortable" leaving the man alone.

The officer reported that he gave the man opportunities to call someone, but that the man remained evasive. He did try to make one call, but didn't have any success, according to his arrest report.

He was taken to jail.

Potted plant problems

3:25 p.m. — 100 block of North St. Andrews Drive

Assault. Police arrested a 19-year-old Ormond Beach woman who threw a small potted plant in her mother's direction over an argument that started with the woman being unable to enter the home due to it being locked. Police report the woman's mother said her daughter broke the door handle of the garage door entry to get inside.

The woman's mother told police that her daughter made verbal threats toward her and that she "kicked in my bedroom door and began breaking things." According to the police report, the daughter told her mom that she didn't care and that she would "lay me out." That's when she threw the plant, and the mother left the home before things escalated further.

The woman, told police that while she was at the beach, she had asked her mom to leave the door to the home unlocked so she could come in later and get ready for work. Finding all the doors locked, she then got into a verbal argument with her mom over the phone, according to the police report. She said her mom told her to figure out how to get inside herself, and that she then took a hatchet and broke the garage entry door to get inside.

When her mom arrived, the woman said they got into an argument and she did throw the plant, but that she threw it on the ground in anger and not in her mom's direction.

The woman was taken to jail.
