Celebrations: two babies born Aug. 26 and 29

At 5:06 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 26, Savannah Rose Fincher, of Ormond Beach, gave birth to a six-pound, one-ounce baby girl, named Joomir Rose Yvette Fincher.

Ormond Beach residents Brittany Murray and Sheddnick Smith also welcomed a baby boy into the world, Aug. 29, at Florida Hospital Memorial Medical Center. The child was seven pounds, nine ounces.

Scott McKee starts as new Ormond Beach City Clerk

Scott McKee began his position as the new City Clerk of Ormond Beach Tuesday, Sept. 4.  Since 2009, he has worked in the City Attorney’s office, as a paralegal, and was admitted, May 2010, to the Florida Bar.

Scott earned his Juris Doctor from Barry University Andreas School of Law in Orlando and also has a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Florida Southern College. Prior to be added to city staff, Scott worked in economic development and grant coordination for the city of Deltona.

A public reception was held Sept. 4, for Mckee, his wife, Leslie, and his son, Jeremy.

Nova Community Center sets new hours

The city of Ormond Beach recently announced new hours of operation at the Nova Community Center, which is free to residents and $3.75 per day to nonresidents. Located at 440 N. Nova Road, the center is now open 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and 1-5:30 p.m. Sundays and has two basketball courts, two Pickleball courts, a gym and a game room with billiards, foosball and ping pong.

Gymnastics Center introduces new workout program

The City of Ormond Beach Gymnastics Center, located at 432 N. Nova Road, will now be open for open workouts Monday nights, 6:30-8:30 p.m. All gymnasts, cheerleaders and tumblers ages 8 years and older are eligible to participate.

The new open workouts are $8 per day for city residents and $12 for nonresidents. Registration is available at the Leisure Services department, 399 N. U.S. 1, or online, at www.ormondbeach.org.

Participants can also pay at the door. Bring proof of residency.
