OUR TOWN: Casino, chili, charity

Plantation Bay residents go all in for a charity casino night, and a local band plays for a children's nonprofit.

Bet on it: Guild hosts casino night

Ormond Beach residents are currently helping organize the Guild of the Museum of Arts and Sciences’ Mardi Gras Casino Night 6-10 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 9, at The Palmetto Club, 1000 S. Beach St., in Daytona Beach.

All participants will receive betting bucks to start, with additional chips available for purchase. Winners will participate in a Chinese auction for prizes.

There will also be silent auctions, a Cajun-style buffet, music, psychic readings, belly dancing and the crowning of a Mardi Gras king and queen.

Reservations required: Call 443-831-5597. Ticket are $35.

Local band to play for Children’s Home Society

Ormond Beach residents Randy and Brenda McDonald, playing as Memphis & Me, will perform 2-5 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 3, at Ormond Lanes, 260 N. U.S. 1, to benefit the Children’s Home Society.

As part of an annual chili cook-off event, the band will play in the King Pin Lounge. The band performed at last year’s cook-off, as well.

“It’s a super cause,” Brenda McDonald said. “(We) have been around for four years now and we play approximately 40 gigs a year.”

Live performance videos of the band can be seen at
