Halifax Urban Ministries recently received a substantial donation from Check On Hold in a time of need.

Halifax Urban Ministries got the money they needed to stay open, just in the nick of time.

Bill Schaeffer, CEO of Check On Hold, presented a check for $36,000 to the charity July 14. This donation came right after HUM announced they were not receiving a funding grant that supports the majority of their organization.

Schaeffer has been a strategic partner level donor for three years and increased their donation due to HUM’s immediate need. These dollars will help support homeless prevention services to families with food, rent and utility assistance, meals to the homeless at the Bridge of Hope Hot Meal Program, homeless assistance at the HUM Center with laundry, showers, clothing, computer usage, case management, a medical clinic, and operating the HUM-Star Family shelter housing 24 families with children.
