One Ormond Beach man was recently credited with the awards he earned for his time in World War II.
Ray Mitchell is finally getting the recognition he deserves.
The Ormond Beach resident and World War II veteran fought for America in some iconic battles like the invasion of Normandy. During his service he earned awards and decorations that he was never credited for.
That changed when Congressman Ron DeSantis presented Mitchell with his well deserved awards at a ceremony held before his friends and family at Ormond in the Pines.
"Ray fought the good fight for us," DeSantis said in a press release, "finished the race and remains faithful to this day. May God bless this man!"
