Scouts get their hands dirty for marsh restoration; nominate your favorite nonprofit for big bucks; birth announcement and more.

Scouts add color to a salt marsh

In helping to restore the salt water marsh along John Anderson Drive, near High Bridge Road, Boy Scouts Pack 74 Webelos Den 1 and Tiger Den 16 planted more than 300 plants earlier this month.

The scouts will help in another cleanup 6:45 p.m. Monday, April 29, at Riviera Park.

Nominate your favorite nonprofit, by May 6

Does your favorite nonprofit love NASCAR? How about free money and advertising? If so, this is the promotion for them.

The Jimmie Johnson Foundation and Wells Enterprises’ Blue Bunny Helmet of Hope contest is offering nonprofits a shot at a $10,000 grant, as well as the nonprofit’s logo printed on Johnson’s driving helmet during the Sprint Cup Race Aug 18.

A total of 12 random drawings will be held April 13 through May 26.
