Calling all poets!

Ormond Beach’s David Axelrod will lead the Creative Happiness Institute nonprofit of Daytona Beach’s new four-class poetry series, beginning 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 26, at 1104 Jacaranda Ave.. Classes will meet again in October and November.

“The purpose of the classes will be to help poets at any level to write better poetry,” said Axelrod, who has published 20 books of poetry and has taught creative writing for more than 40 years. “This will be better than just a workshop. Poets who want to learn how to revise can gain new skills that will help them enjoy their craft even more.”

Space is limited to 10 poets. Cost: $50 for all four classes, or $15 per class. Proceeds benefit the Creative Happiness Institute’s Daytona Beach Visiting Writers Series.

Also, poets are still wanted to read for a Peace Day event Sept. 21, at Cinematique, 242 S. Beach St. (the $10 event will feature short films and a concert), as well as at a Sept. 28 “Tell All,” at Frappes North, 123 W. Granada Blvd.
