The first Food Brings Hope Golf Tournament was a hole in one. The fundraiser exceeded its goal Saturday by bringing in more than $25,000.“We raised well above our expectation,” said Ali Kargar of ICI Homes, one of the golf invitational’s organizers. The group was hoping to raise $20,000.
Food Brings Hope is an organization that benefits about 500 children in Volusia County schools. The organization was started six years ago by ICI Homes’ senior vice president of information systems, Forough B. Hosseini.
"It's the first-annual event, that's the exciting part about it," said Bill Navarra, a real estate agent involved with the tournament. "Forty dollars would feed a family of four for a week, so raising over $25,000 is pretty tremendous."
Sponsors for the event include Fields BMW, Mercedes of Daytona, Brown & Brown Hawaiian Tropic, Embry Riddle, ICI and Realty Pros Assured.
